    More bad news today:

Obama Leads in Florida, Ohio, Must-Win Battlegrounds for McCain

    By Catherine Dodge

Oct. 29 (Bloomberg) — Barack Obama leads in Florida and Ohio, states Republican John McCain must win to capture the presidency, as voters prefer the Democratic presidential nominee’s personal traits and approach on the economy and health care.

Obama, an Illinois senator, tops Arizona Senator McCain by 50 percent to 43 percent among likely voters in Florida, a Bloomberg/Los Angeles Times poll shows. He leads 49 percent to 40 percent in Ohio, as voters in the two states overwhelmingly rate domestic concerns as more important than national security.

Voters choose Obama, 47, as the candidate best able to handle the financial crisis and health care. And by an almost 2- to-1 margin, they say the Democrat has “the better temperament and personality to be president.”

“Domestic issues are the outstanding issues of the day, and Obama has been owning those,” says Susan Pinkus, the Los Angeles Times polling director. What is more, “voters are more comfortable with him” after his three debate performances.

Florida voters by more than 2-to-1 say a candidate’s views on domestic issues such as health care and the economy are more important than positions on the war in Iraq and terrorism; voters in Ohio say the same by a 3-to-1 margin.

    Crucial States

No Republican has won the White House without capturing Ohio, and Florida helped George W. Bush obtain two terms in the White House. The current U.S. electoral map, polls show, indicates it would be almost impossible for McCain, 72, to win without carrying those two states.

In 2004, Bush won 286 Electoral College votes, including Ohio’s 20 and Florida’s 27. It takes 270 to win and if Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic nominee, had won either of those states, he would have defeated the incumbent president.

Less than a week before the Nov. 4 election, Obama is running ahead in all the states that Kerry won, and is highly competitive in more than half a dozen states where Bush prevailed.

There’s also a gender gap in the Democrat’s favor. Among women voters in Florida, Obama leads 51 percent to 41 percent; in Ohio, his lead is 54 percent to 38 percent. Obama has a small lead among men in Florida, while McCain is slightly ahead with male voters in Ohio.

    Temperament

In Florida, 58 percent of voters say Obama has a better temperament to be president, compared with 30 percent for McCain. In Ohio, Obama beats McCain on that question 57 percent to 29 percent.

“I find Obama to be pretty calm under any circumstance,” says poll respondent Donna Orcutt, 63, of Toledo, Ohio. “In the debates, some of the zingers he got he handled pretty good. If the object was to see if they could make him lose his temper, that didn’t happen.”

Orcutt, a Democrat who is retired and used to work for a house-cleaning company and as a secretary, says Obama has a better understanding of the economy because he didn’t grow up in a privileged environment. McCain, she says, “is a very nice man,” though he has never had to worry “about where the next paycheck is coming from.”

On the question of which candidate they trust to make the right decision about the economy, voters in Florida pick Obama over McCain by a 9-point margin, and in Ohio, the Democrat leads by 12 points.

    Health Care

Obama does even better on the question of which candidate would better handle health care. In Florida, he is preferred by 52 percent of voters, compared with 34 percent for McCain; in Ohio, 54 percent pick Obama and 30 percent choose the Republican.

The Democrat also is ahead with white working-class voters, who overwhelmingly favored his opponent for the Democratic nomination, Senator Hillary Clinton of New York. Obama gets the support of 52 percent of these voters in Ohio, compared with 38 percent for McCain; in Florida, this group is almost evenly split, with a slight edge for Obama.

Even though Bush used victories in Ohio and Florida to build his winning coalition, more than seven in 10 voters in both states now disapprove of his job performance; more than eight in 10 say the country is on the wrong track.

Seventy percent of voters in Florida and 62 percent in Ohio say the recent troubles in the economy have hurt their family’s financial situation.

    Change Agent

Ohio and Florida voters also say the ability to bring change to Washington — a central theme of Obama’s campaign — is more important than having the most experience, which is one of McCain’s selling points.

“I truly see Obama as someone who will come in with a less political and more intelligent problem-solving approach to really trying to address the critical problems,” says poll respondent Laurie Kadoch, 60, a Miami Democrat, who teaches at Florida International University College of Law.

Bush’s record is hurting McCain in Ohio, where more than half of voters say the Republican will continue the current administration’s policies. Voters also are split on that question in Florida.

As in previous polls, the bright spots for McCain are his ability to successfully handle the war in Iraq and protect the country from terrorism. The Arizona senator leads Obama in those categories in both states, the poll shows.

“He does have a whole lot more experience than Obama does,” said Republican poll respondent Maria Lyle, 25, a stay- at-home mother from Jackson Center, Ohio. “His ideas line up more with how I feel. With the terrorism issue, I feel we do need to have our troops over there.”

    Palin Pick

McCain’s choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate appears to be a drag on the ticket in both states. Less than half of voters in Florida and Ohio view her as qualified to be president. By comparison, more than seven in 10 voters in both states say Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden, a Delaware senator, is qualified to be president.

The survey of 809 registered voters in Florida — including 639 likely voters — and of 816 registered voters in Ohio — including 644 likely voters — was conducted Oct. 25-27. The margin of sampling error in both states is plus or minus 3 percentage points among registered voters, and of plus or minus 4 points among likely voters.

Hi Ray – been busy – so have you…

Anyway… great post. Btw… love the Michelle photo – if it had been Sarah if would be all over the NYT and the headline would be “She isn’t as hot as everyone says”. Michelle… no… she’s off limits… its all about Palin’s clothes… too bad she did shop at J Crew – right? WTF. Enough of this sexist crap… I digress…

This isn’t even far from over. I heard such great news from my home state today… Indiana is 3/10 of a point between Obama and McCain. The state that always goes R – to hear the media (and I pay attention when they talk of my home state) over the last months Indiana was all going D this election. The truth is – they have the best R Gov they have ever had and they also are simple people, don’t mean stupid, but simple on the issues people. They don’t vote want they really want, they vote against want they don’t want OR what they don’t TRUST. We can’t put them in the McCain column since ACORN has been all over northern Indiana (lawsuit now pending) while the SOS decides to go ahead and count ACORN votes. White women democrats in that state don’t trust Obama… i know these women… they will say undecided because they don’t want the wrath from their small town democrat friends. They will go McCain.

Gallup – 49 – 47&… it’s gonna be a long night on November 4th. If Obama gets in – and your blog makes it through the great wash of the Internet scrubbing by anything not Obama…. shortly thereafter… we need to get together with uppity, RBO, No quarter, and others to make it seriously hard for this Marxist to get anything done in his first four years with the lousy people he will appoint and work with…. in short… we need to become Code Pink with more credibility (that won’t be hard).

I gotta know – are you up for it? Or are you gonna fade when the election is over?

  5. Send all of this information to FoxNews. If we can verify this tape i think the election will turn on a dime..this is very damaging no matter who you are supporting..Go to the FoxNews website now and give the information..Do you know where this event took place in 2003..This information ties together all that we have been worried about these last few months…YIKES not much time here..anyway to get to Sam Zell and why won’t he show the tape.

  6. Politico,

I am here to stay…..don’t you worry…and as you know….your allies are my allies….don’t forget about Hillbuzz also…

We will all work together….and never disappear…only get stronger..

  7. Yes, I agree but we need to get the info out..Anyway to verify your transcript..Send a tip to FOxNews they will investigate..This is very damaging information but could be what is needed to change this around..Do you know the name of the place where the eent took place in 2003?? Thanks fot he site..

  8. Marilyn F. Says:

Obama is a dangerous choice on the ticket–unbelieveable how Americans want to be in denial about who this man really is. So many people such as Sean Hannity and Jerome Corsi, author of Obama Nation, have done an excellent job of researching and reporting on this individual, and yet the masses are choosing to ignore it. The revelation of this tape which the L.A. Times is holding back sounds like the final “wake-up” call for who Obama really is and what he stands for. I pity our country who seems to be under a spell, who has forgotten 9/11 and what we must to do stand tall and strong and all times against evil. This life-long Democrat will be voting differently from all other presidential elections–a vote for America’s safety–it’s most basic liberties is at stake–we must elect McCain!

  10. I am so grateful for all of you …Ray, you are wonderful for doing all of this work. I am sick inside when I think of that idiot, product of affirmative action, America-hating Muslim running our country…please let’s all hang in there and keep the truth out there….

  11. ChicagoBlood Says:

    rrichardson,

Actually, this is a rather encouraging piece of journalism (perhaps written by a student of Tokyo Rose).

This blatant attempt to demoralize opposition Sen. Obamas’ candidacy smells of desperate concern in a tightening race.

    Here’s to ya,

  12. ChicagoBlood Says:

    Michelle,

    We should keep some things in perspective;

Although, speaking for myself as I oppose Sen. Obamas’ candidacy, I believe he is the farthest from an idiot. He is well spoken and clearly has an outstanding education

Secondly, not everyone who has been given or taken advantage of opportunities presented by affirmative action should be cast in a negative light. Although I believe in principle with the goals of affirmative action, I believe in practicality, it is flawed (from personal life experience, I believe I was denied a job because of affirmative action. I am not bitter about it as a I believe someone else in just as much of a need as me got the job. I refuse to hold any bitterness towards the beneficiary).

“America-hating muslim” is a fairly desparaging term to Muslims in this country and only throws gas on tensions that are extremely toxic and flammable in this regards. I am quite sure there are Muslims in this country whose only desire is to live in peace for themselves and their families (considering the Iraqui refugees in Michigan and the regime they fled from is a point to consider). We must be always aware in our attitudes towrds Muslims in this country, that we don’t fall into the generalizing mindset that overtook America during World War Two in regards to Germans and especially the Japanese.

    Peace.

  13. WHAT PEOPLE ON BOTH SIDES DO NOT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND IS THAT IF THERE IS NOTHING ON THE TAPE WHY HIDE IT?? ALL THIS SECRCY THAT SHROUDS OBAMA..ONE QUESTION WHY?? YOU CAN’T ASK QUESTIONS. YOU CAN’T INVESTIGATE..WHY NOT?? THERE IS A DEFINITE PATTERN HERE/..THIS ALL BEGS THE QUESTION WHY??? 17. SoapboxSambo Says:

The only news media worth watching anymore is FoxNews but in an effort to be “fair and balanced” they only help the 0bama campaign. You would think that with all the other media in the USA being bias for 0bama, Fox would take a stand and at least try to make up the balance to help McCain. I have to give them credit where it is due, they seem to swing slightly toward McCain but do allow the far left-wing liberal talking heads to go on, and on, and on, and on, and on until I just want to throw up my lunch! Another “use to be conservative, Bill O’Reilly” all of a sudden started his crap of being neutral, which is nothing more than straddling the fence and isn’t fooling anyone. He’s trying to save his neck just in case 0bama gets elected and the Demoncrats bring back the fairness doctrine. What with the idiots that are following 0bama and ignoring his alliances with William Ayers, Rezco, Frank Marshall Davis, Nadhami Avchi,
Rev. Wright, Allison Davis, M. Marzook, Louis Farrakhan, Obongo Obama, Odinga, James Meeks, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, the Woods Fund, ACORN, Voter registration and voting Fraud and the most recent discovery of Rashid Khalid. Our whole judicial system, elected Demoncrat officials and news media have stooped to the lowest level than ever before and are blatantly bold about it because they know nothing will ever be done about it if 0bama is elected, which they anticipate, and the Demoncrats gain control of the House of Representatives. These last few months has brought the United States and our society to the lowest level that we have ever been and I’ll venture to say, we haven’t seen anything yet!! This years whole election process which we have been bombarded with, has given some credence to the old saying “NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS!”

  29. The Audacity of Truth Says:

I’m an Independent and I did support Hillary, but given everything that has happened inside the DNC,Obama campaign, media, the economy, etc I have changed to McCain! This is a simple choice for me. ALL Democrats LOVE McCain because he’s not a traditional Republican and he’s very bi-partisan! They are only tearing him apart now because he stands in the way of the “chosen one”, Obama Messiah! If McCain was so bad, why did Joe Biden say he would be honored to run with McCain on the same ticket just a couple of years ago???? Did John McCain really morph into George Bush in the last two years? NO! That’s stupid! McCain still wants alternative energy, stem cell research, comprehensive immigration reform,etc.. He only changed on the Bush taxes because we are in a recession! The last person to raise anyone’s taxes during a recession was Republican Herbert Hoover! Then the recession turned into the Great Depression! It’s ironic that he and Obama are on the same page! Just as ironic is McCain wants to buy up the bad mortgages (a problem caused by Democrats)! Do you know who did that? Democrat F.D.R. after Hoover during the Depression. So, McCain is on the same page as him! They say if you don’t learn from History you are doomed to repeat it! People are now flocking to Obama thinking that will be a diversion from History, but it’s actually repeating what caused the same problem last time! The Democrats caused the housing crisis too so why are they now more fit to fix it? George Bush did plenty to weaken our dollar and get us in insane debt which certainly is the other half of where we find ourselves! Do you know who has always been against the outrageous spending of the Bush administration? John McCain! Do you know who wants to spend more, even during a recession? Barack Obama! Who is really George Bush in this election? Supporters of Obama need to look again!

Established in March 2008, Progressives For Obama – PFO. After Mrs. Clinton conceded defeat to Obama in the summer of 2008, PFO turned its attention to beating Republican presidential candidate John McCain. Claiming to represent “the proud tradition of independent social movements that have made America a more just and democratic country,” PFO exhorts “all American progressives” to “unite for Barack Obama.” The organization condemns “the narrow interests of private corporations in an unregulated global marketplace,” and instead favors “globalizing the values of equality, a living wage and environmental sustainability in the new world order, not hoping our deepest concerns will be protected by trickle-down economics or charitable billionaires.” “The Obama campaign,” said PFO in March 2008, “will stimulate a vision of globalization from below.” PFO seeks to help Obama by raising funds for his campaign, using the Internet to reach “millions of swing voters,” and defending their candidate against negative advertising. “Progressives can make a difference in close primary races like Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Oregon and Puerto Rico, and in the November general election,” say PFO’s founders, who consider it “crucial to form a grassroots leftist movement to ensure Obama does not stray too far to the center.” They claim, moreover, that previous grassroots liberal movements successfully pressured past U.S. presidents to implement policy changes…

    October 1996 Update :
Running to Win : The Key Races
New Party members are busy knocking on doors, hammering down lawn signs, and phoning voters to support NP candidates this fall. Here are some of our key races:
Arkansas: The Little Rock New Party has a full slate of candidates up for election in November. LRNP steering committee member Michael Booker is running unopposed for re-election to the Arkansas State House. Two NP members – Paul Kelly and Genevieve Stewart – are running for at-large (city-wide) city council positions. And in a head-to-head battle between the New Party and the conservative right, NP member Jayne Cia faces the Arkansas state chair of Empower America (Jack Kemp and Bill Bennett’s organization) for a Justice of the Peace (county board) position.
Illinois: Three NP-members won Democratic primaries last Spring and face off against Republican opponents on election day: Danny Davis (U.S. House), Barack Obama (State Senate) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary).
Maryland: Two New Party members are up for school board seats this fall: Doyle Niemann in Prince George’s County and Dan Parr in Montgomery County.
Minnesota: Despite the successful effort by conservative Democratic Party forces to deny Progressive Minnesota the opportunity to use fusion this fall, the state legislative candidates that sought our nomination still see themselves as Progressive Minnesota candidates, and we’re still backing them in the general election. PM/NP endorsed candidates include Ellen Anderson, Karen Clark, Andy Dawkins, Linda Higgins, and Sandy Pappas. Progressive Minnesota has also endorsed Green Party State Assembly candidate Cam Gordon.
New York: The New Party of Long Island is backing three candidates for office this Fall: State Assembly candidate Tom DiNapoli and Congressional candidates Carolyn McCarthy and Nora Bredes. NP members collected the necessary signatures to nominate progressive Democratic Assemblyman Tom DiNapoli on the New Party line, making this the first Democratic Party/New Party fusion effort. The chapter is supporting a major voter registration drive in African-American and Hispanic communities in McCarthy’s district.
Washington, DC: DC New Democracy/NP is backing ten candidates for Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (Almedith Bass-Williams, John Jordan, Laine McRaney, Henry Fernandez, Todd Mosley, Daniel Rosenberg, Gerry Lorentz, Will Hill, Dennis Dolinger, Violet Hewlett), neighborhood-based councils that represent community concerns to the mayor and city council. In addition, DCND is recruiting candidates to run write-in campaigns in some of the 80-odd ANC races with no candidate.
Wisconsin: In addition to the four Progressive Milwaukee-backed candidates running for state office (Spencer Coggs, Dale Dulberger, Gwendolynne Moore, Johnnie Morris-Tatum, see Sept Update), two New Party members in Fox Valley are running for the state assembly. Progressive Fox Valley founder and chair Tony Palmeri is in a surprisingly close race against an four-term incumbent conservative Republican in Oshkosh. New Party and AFSCME (American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees) member Corky Van Handel is also running for the state assembly in a nearby district. Both are running as Democrats.
    Membership Growth
September was the New Party’s all-time high month for membership recruitment – more than 1000 new members joined! Welcome aboard. As always, onward and upward…

So believable, Ray…a necessary component of good satire. I will pass it on to other boards–people who have fought long and hard for truth, justice, civility for all of those who come in peace.

As one who pulled an all-nighter during the 2004 Kerry tank in Ohio (my home state), I don’t know if I have the fortitude to sit through another tainted selection farce. The polls are as corrupted as most political processes in this brave new America.

But thanks to all who want the best and hope for the promise. Maybe

There’s something to be said about honoring journalistic ethics. After all, isn’t keeping one’s word a form of honor and integrity? The sarcastic approach to article clearly indicates that you feel angered and betrayed by the L.A. Times for not giving you what you think you deserve. Yet, isn’t it hypocritical to suggest that it is admissible for them to betray their source, simply because you feel it is just?

I’ll check back next Tuesday when Barack Obama is named President.

PS. Nice Obama photo – it looks like he is flipping you off.

  46. “me”, the guy a few responses ago…dude, that picture of you just says it all…even my young daughters now play a game when we are driving…they can guess an Obama supporter by their sorrowful, ugly, smoking-scarred faces! I Am Adolf Hitler.

Let us not be fooled again by the “Cult of Personality”.
“Those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it”

The methods of mass persuasion Obama is using are NOT new. The exact same tactics have been used by virtually every other tyrant in history when they were attempting to seize political power.
These tactics are not simply a well thought out plan, they are instead literally dictated by the psychological makeup of men like Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, Idi Amin, and Barack Hussein Obama.
Of all the tyrants in history, Obama is perhaps the MOST dangerous of all by virtue of his use of the extensive and technologically advanced mass media which was not available in the past.

  52. QuakerDave Says:

What’s most “probable” about this is that is most probably a fake and a fraud and a smear.

By the way, it’s being widely reported that McCain has even closer ties to Khalidi than Obama does, to the tune of almost a half million dollars in donations to his foundation.

You’ll have to do better than this. ‘Cause this is just crap.

  53. QuakerDave Says:

By the way, I grew up two blocks away from a guy who was a member of the Gambino crime family. I used to mow his lawn in the summer. Yes, I talked to him. I took ten dollars a mow from him.

Does this make me a mobster? By your logic, apparently so.

    Just askin’.

    Peace.

  54. As a counter note to the so called landslide African American vote, Dah!, there is not enough for a landslide, they need to get a clue!!!

Reality polling data shows only 78% of African Americans are for Obama. Many African Americans are devote Christians who will vote with White Christians. Not so much that the AA Christians are for McCain, it is that many are against endorsing BarackÂ’s left wing agenda.

The AA BO block will therefore tally only 78% of the 17.3 million total registered AA voters (their so called landslide is equal to approximately 13.5 million AA BO votes).

Compare, approximately 97,920,000 whites who will vote. Of which 68% will vote against BO. This white block will tally 66,590,000 votes. That leaves only 31,330,000 whites for BO.
In other words, the AA to WA ratio is only one to five (1: 5).

The math, 33.3 million whites and 13.5 million AA voters equals only 46.8 million BO votes. Not quite a landslide compared to 66.5 million white votes for McCain and Palin.

In order for BO to win, what my tally suggests is that every AA BO vote will also need an additional four white BO votes, or four times more white BO votes added to the total AA BO vote just to pull off a skweeker, not a landslide.

  55. QD

Did you run for office? Did you need millions of dollars to run a campaign as an unknown? Did you then take money from the gambinos? ..I don’t think so.

I also don’t think a guy named quaker dave, who’s IP address shows him living in Virginia, grew up down the street from the Gambino’s…..

maybe I’m wrong, but I don’ think so

ALSO….my post was an attempt at irony…you know..a joke….loosen up homie

  56. AP says McCain helped raise nearly a half million dollars for Khalidi. You sure you want to claim Khalidi’s a bad guy? Looks like McCain’s ties are much tighter than Obama’s.

  57. I am sick inside when I think of that idiot, product of affirmative action, America-hating Muslim running our country.

That’s unfair. McCain is clearly not an idiot, and being the son of an Admiral and the grandson of an Admiral isn’t really his own fault with regard to affirmative action. I don’t think there’s a strong case he’s a follower of Islam, either.

  58. I guess that’s your attempt at irony and humor…I get that you are trying.

  59. Ray, we really appreciate this site and this chance to say how we really feel. Please try to keep it up, even if Obama and his free-speech fearing thugs try to shut down our right to seek the truth. I am so grateful for people like you, “ChicagoBlood” (above), Sean Hannity, El-Rushbo, and Dr. Savage…thanks guys…i love you all….

  62. Interesting when anyone says something is probable and should be thought the truth to be freely distributed. Nice…I believe in the early days that was called “yellow journalism.” But, the best part is that McCain supporters dont need the truth…they never use the stuff! For the sick, lame, and lazy, the McCain / Palin ticket is perfect.

  63. ChicagoBlood Says:

    1. “Interesting when anyone says something is probable and should be thought the truth to be freely distributed”.

    2. HHmm, are you referring to Baby Trig not being Governor Palin’s child but her daughters or Governor Palins’ alleged attempt to ban a book that was still two years away from being written?

“But, the best part is that McCain supporters dont need the truth…they never use the stuff!”

Uh-huh, right (read paragraph 2 again). Say again?

    Yellow Journalism?

Try a copy of US or the New York Times.

“For the sick, lame, and lazy, the McCain / Palin ticket is perfect”.

Spoken like a true agent of “hope and change” with such wonderful, high regard for the “sick and lame.”

Keep it up, your true attitudes keep wafting up, like the stench from an open sewer.

  64. If there is nothing bad in John McCain’s medical records, why is he hiding them?

  65. Boy you guys are ignorant. Baseless slander against Obama simply because you don’t like him for some reason. At first glance it is easy to see what your problem with Obama is… let’s just say he doesn’t look like your typical president.

I guess I could start a political website and believe it or not fill it with as much negative slams against McCain. Would you like to know the difference between the two sites would be? Yes, you guessed it, my site would be filled with actual facts about McCain and Palin. I wouldn’t have to make anything up to get my point across about those two morons.

  66. The sick and the lame better watch out for McCain / Palin. They will end up without health care or with health care they cant pay for. Thank you for the detailed response because I know I hit a nerve. I do consider Palin an insult to smart, professional women everywhere. Please note, at this point, that is not political issue. He could have picked any of the many intelligent, well-informed Republican women (and there are quite a few). And he picked Palin. Interesting…and truly a reflection of his view of the intelligence of the American people and American women. Although, in his defense, I believe McCain is wishing he would have made a better choice too!

I wont take it personally…as you really dont know my attitude….and I was not critical of yours. Only your writing and McCain….but that is how it works right? If McCain can not make his point using facts, then he gets personal…and then…cries fowl when others do the same.

For “inappropriateone,” very intelligent words. McCain supporters are getting such a black eye in public because of these “well-meaning” people taking oddly desperate actions. In my area, someone killed a black bear cub, put in on a college campus, and covered it in Obama signs. There is too much hate in this campaign between people who “should” know better on both sides. ~~Dee

“He could have picked any of the many intelligent, well-informed Republican women (and there are quite a few). And he picked Palin. Interesting…and truly a reflection of his view of the intelligence of the American people and American women.”

A very relative reflection and your opinion of Palin and would probably reflect my opinion of Biden.

“For “inappropriateone,” very intelligent words. McCain supporters are getting such a black eye in public because of these “well-meaning” people taking oddly desperate actions. In my area, someone killed a black bear cub, put in on a college campus, and covered it in Obama signs”.

This is an ironic claim for someone to be chiming in about “hearsay.”

“If McCain can not make his point using facts, then he gets personal…and then…cries fowl when others do the same.”

Maybe like Obama/Biden blacklisting news outfits and reporters that ask tough questions.

I’m glad you don’t take it personally and neither will I but I still don’t like the whiff of your posts.

  68. Don’t these people have ANY sense of humor??? Look, we have had to put up with DEAD journalism (speaking of the sick and the lame)….for many years, but never as blatantly LEFTist as the past 2 years of Barack’s campaign. This is absurd. Anyone who doesn’t swallow the media’s crap is somehow “ignorant”????? I am sorry, but it is the complete OPPOSITE. You people (the sexywhisperers and inappropriateones out there) may think you are intellectual and worldly and all-knowing about “smart, professional women”, but you are not wise. For wisdom you need life experience, and for life experience you need a life…
Barack is very lucky that so many people have had such a weak education as far as US history, the Constitution, Marxism, to name a few. Many of us have had teachers and professors like Barack and his friends/babysitters who “teach” us lies and expect us to regurgitate this stuff back so we can graduate….and, sadly, since some people don’t have any other backdrop in their lives to place these “teachings” up against (such as family, life experience, hard work, real jobs, religion, to name a few), they ACTUALLY BELIEVE what they have heard in school for so many years. Then you just continue to follow the lies, and it just becomes almost too late …..you are sick and lame, in the gray matter……

Nothing wrong with being educated, it enables you to do research. Like reading the New York Times, especially the archives. No right-leaning with this publication.

I’m especially fond of the edition that documents the Democrat leadership blocking big, bad Bush’s attempts to put out a fire in our economic house.

Or of Obamas’ economic advisors making millions as their companies implode bringing down not only our economy but seriously affecting (in a dramatically negative way) the world economy.

And you are going to vote for these guys.

In light of these facts, maybe you should rethink who you’re calling stupid?

Look, if the tape was not damaging to him, he would be calling for the release of it. So just in that, we know it has to be damning to him! We ALL know that Obama gets what he wants and this tape wont come to light. I have to wonder though, HOW MUCH has he paid them to keep it off limits. WHAT has he threatened them with.

  82. What do we know about Rahm Emanuel? Other than the fact that he is one of the main life forces behind the Obama Rising??

  83. ChicagoBlood,

Question: Since you are in Chicago, and based on how the “general public” up there reacts even when their teams WIN a tournament/seiries/game…What do you think the reaction will be if Obama wins? What if he doesn’t? What do you think the response will be nationwide? Will it be a short term event, or cause permanent changes “riffs and/or division” nationwide?

    Doc’

  84. What do we know about Rahm Emanuel?

Were you alive in the past 20 years?

    See Wikipedia:

Emanuel was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1959. His father, the Jerusalem-born Benjamin M. Emanuel, is a pediatrician and was a member of the Irgun, a Zionist Militant organization in the 1940s.[2][3][4] His mother, Martha Smulevitz, worked as an X-ray technician; she was the daughter of a local union organizer,[1] and would herself become a civil rights activist; she was also once the owner of a Chicago-area rock and roll club.[4] The two met in Chicago in the 1950s.[5] Emanuel’s older brother, Ezekiel, is a noted oncologist and bioethicist, and his brother, Ari, is a high-powered talent agent in Los Angeles and inspired Jeremy Piven’s character Ari Gold on the HBO series Entourage.[1] Rahm himself is also the inspiration for the character Josh Lyman on The West Wing.[1] He also has a younger sister named Shoshanna, fourteen years his junior.[1]

He comes from the best political campaigns, and has had some of the finest mentors. Paul Simon’s campaign, Finance Director for Bill Clinton’s campaign in 1992, senior White House advisor 1993-1998, choreographer of the signing of the Oslo Accord by Yitshak Rabin and Yasser Arafat. Veteran of Gulf War I. Left the White House to join a Chicago investment banking firm, make a killing, elected to Congress in 2002. Taught Constitutional Law to Vice President Dick Cheney: When Cheney (quite stupidly) claimed the Vice President was not part of the executive branch, Emanuel quickly moved to cut funding to the office through executive branch appropriations, and Cheney backed down.

Rahm Emanuel is a legislator on a par with Lyndon Johnson, John Nance Garner, James Madison, or Howard Baker. He has headed the Democratic Congressional Committee for four years, electing a majority in 2006, and a larger majority in 2008.

Bright, young, hard-charging, patriotic. Deep experience in operations of the White House. Deep experience winning in Congress, holding chits that at least 150 congressmen owe him for his help in getting them elected. Extremely close to Bill Clinton. Extremely close to Hillary Clinton. Extremely close to Barack Obama. Good friend and supporter of Nancy Pelosi, John Dingell, and anyone else with brains, ethics and guts in Congress.

Great guest on Sunday news programs. Highly respected by friends, foes, journalists and academics.

    Did you Google him?

    Here, listen to this interview:

  85. By the way, that transcript is a hoax. Did you bother to read it? You read it and then you posted it anyway?

  86. ChicagoBlood Says:

    Hi Doc’

I don’t live in Chicago but I believe it’s more a knucklehead segment of the “general poulation” that is just looking for an excuse to riot and burn cars. I could be wrong, as I said, I don’t live in Chicago.

A concern is what will happen if Obama loses after all the hype of his invincibility in the polls. Despite some nut-jobs predicting a second civil war ( which I believe is fear-mongering votes for Obama) I don’t believe we’ll see widespread riots, maybe isolated incidents ( I could be wrong, I certainly hope that I’m not) If Obama loses, I believe the devastation will be felt more in the MSM, which is putting their crediblity as a whole on the line here.

If RMS Obama goes down, he will take with him the last shred of crediblity that the MSM possesses and rightfully so. The MSM has been shilling a decidely leftist ideaology under the pretext of objective journalism for some years now, and an Obama loss would be fitting implosion to that industry that, I believe, already has one foot in the grave. We are well overdue for a change and reform in the media, which should start, I believe, with the breaking up of media monopolies. We need far more diversification of viewpoint and ideaology in the MSM then we currently have. Which is why people watch Fox News. Because they offer a decidedly different viewpoint then is presented elsewhere.

If their are riffs, they will be short-term because if anything Obamas’ candidacy has proved (to some extent) that America is committed to electing a candidate on substance and not factors of race (even though race is and will still be present, it’s an imperfect world and always will be). In any case, I believe America will be fundementally changed after this election and hopefully for the better (with McCain as President).

If Obama wins, with a Far-Left Supermajority?

Pelosi, Dodd, Schumer, Frank and Rangel running wild rubberstamping every far left inititive offered up?

President Obama speaking to a drooling MSM?

That thought turns my stomache and keeps me awake at night.

  87. [...] Other hoaxers are worse, creating whole cloth fictions, just for the sake of malice. [...]

  88. ChiBlood,

Thanks for replying, I’ve been busy today so just getting back online. I agree with the super-majority part…a disaster in every way. As for the rioting, I too hope you are right. But based on the history..LA Rodney King etc.. I think we’ll likely see at least some in specific areas regardless of the outcome. As for “riffs”, I think those are more prevalaint and likely to be permanent. I know I have changed my mind about a few and won’t likely change it back. I’ll admit, I think the fundamental changes we will see, won’t be for the best. Thanks again. See ya ’round.

    Doc’

  89. ChicagoBlood Says:

I guess I’m just holding out for the best, however irrational it may seem.

    EXCELLENT POINT.

I have the feeling that any criticism of his policies will be labeled as “conscience or unconscience” racism (“guilt-tripping”).

Electing this guy with a Far-Left Supermajority is tantamount to giving him a “blank-check” on power.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely is a healthy adage to remember in this regard.

  95. I’m hoping and believe we should have a backlash against this dishonest MSM-they don’t need us – do we need them??

If only Tony Rezko would out this guy….and all his Chicago friends!

Why are the Raila Odinga tapes not relevant to this election? Is it legal or ethical to stump in Kenya while a US Senator? Who paid for his trip?

Is his name Barry Soetoro or Barack Obama?

Why is he allowed to game the donor system with illegal donors?

Will Obama keep his pledge to allow “community organizers” help him shape his agenda? If so, we’re all in deep weeds!

Too many questions while the MSM calls this the “greatest presidential race ever.” They deserve our scorn!!!

So, I think there was a war in the world, which will end in the actual US elections. One side of that war was personified by the image of Mr. Bush, and the other by other images. I am refering to a strictly symbolic level – you can know it better for having better psychoanalytical tradition.

Before continuing, I wish to specify the following:

I consider Mr. Obama is a honourable man.

    I think changes are good.

A black US president, sounds providential.

They say he’s a muslim. But he say to be a cristian, and I believe he’s a cristian, as I am a cristian and anybody could be a good cristian without demostrating it too much. And anybody who would go for a president in a country with a strong cristian tradition, would be a good cristian. And if he was a muslim, no problem for a really democratic country.

And Mr. Obama is a well prepared politician.

And is a really honourable man.

But the problem is other, and now we are going back to the war, without fear of misunderstanding. (I hope so.) The problem is, I think, a psychological one. And somebody knew very well how to exploit it. A part of Americans are so accustomed to see everything in only two colors. Perhaps your cinematography is to blame for this. You will know it better as it has to do with the psychoanalysis. They’ve seen too much good guys and bad boys, too much heroes and evildoers. It’s deep in the mentality of that part of your people. They even cannot see the history without dividing its figures, and peoples, into heroes and demons. And others have known very well to take advantage of this. When they see the heroes devaluing, they immediately change them by antiheroes, and everything goes on.

At the biggining, Mr. Bush was a heroe. And he fought as a heroe. And Americans saw him as a heroe. But the things began to complicate. Apparently, obtaining the victory was going to be delayed – not as in a picture, in two hours. And the heroe fell from favor. No problem, there is an antiheroe – when you start to loathe a heroe, to punish him for failed expectations, you will choose his adversary. Osama Bin Laden or Sadam Huseyn? Perhaps, if they have reached the necessary symbolic weight.

And now the problem really begins. And somebody knew and knows how to exploit it. It is as there would be, for example, a guy named Adolf Hifler competing as a candidate in Israeli presidential elections. I repeat I consider Mr. Obama as a honourable man and an excellent candidate for US president. But the problem is the name, and its symbolic value, and the mentality of those who are going to vote him, and who stand behind him. That’s the problem. Or, I’m wrong?

It was only a thought. And the war will end…

And, I would like to remind you that Mr. Bush didn’t lose this war, because:

There are people still dying in Iraq, but there were more people dying before, during Sadam regime, there was even genocides against diferent ethnic groups before, and no reporters ever entered Iraq in that times to relate or film it. And now they can fill up news and TV with reports. Why didn´t they enter Iraq before? And Tibet? And former Soviet Union during the communist regime? Because of fear. And now can enter, because there is better situation, more liberty. Less danger. Thanks to American military presence.

Kurds have their autonomy, their state, and their administration for the first time after centuries and centuries. And they are more than ten million. Thanks to American military presence in Iraq.

At least, for these two reasons Mr. Bush didn´t lose the war and will not lose it. You’ll know it better.

  98. Hello ChiBlood & Michelle,

Just thought I’d invite you to read a new report I just published. Titled: The Puppet of The Platform. You can see it on my blog http://therealityreport.wordpress.com/ or on another wordpress blog I publish on called PA Pundits. Let me know what you think.

    petar,

Thank you for thoughts. Thank you for your great post! You give us something to think about.

    Thank you again.

  100. Doc,

I just read it. THANK YOU! This is profound, and why, why is this not known by more people? I think because it takes work. Left to our lazy tendencies, I guess we would all fall victim to Liberalism, and the subsequent stages of moral and intellectual decay. Entropy.
very sad. This kind of non’thinking slide into Liberalism is just the thing that is rewarded in academia….
Thank you for your hard work, and for your generous spirit.

  101. P.S.
My brother is a Chicago police officer. Tomorrow they must all report for mandatory overtime, in “full riot gear”…at Grant Park. Hope and Change…

I predict a quiet night, really. There will be a lot of bitter McCain supporters, but most of them are too old to stay up much past 9:30, especially to get into trouble in Grant Park, in November.

  103. I was talking to Doc and ChicagoBlood, dude.

  104. P.S. Ed, what are you getting Rahm for Hannukah? You sound quite enamored….

  105. Michelle,

Thank you so much for the kind words, it means more to me than you know. And thanks too for taking the time to read my articles, you are obviously not infected by the “lefty lazy bug” ;) I hope to have more soon. A bit of good news related to my articles (and a big surprise to me) The editor over at PA Pundits International submitted both “Who Am I” and “Puppet of The Platform” to Real Clear Politics (RCP) Who Am I is still active on the post and has received 15 votes thus far, it will stay posted for about 5 more days. Will be interesting to see how it does. “Puppet of The Platform” got 9 votes within 2 hours of posting but then slipped from the rankings (Perhaps because it is a fairly long read?) It takes at least 10 votes to stay active so it barely missed. Either way, I’m very surprised and pleased. (Pssstt…you can vote too ;) )

Thanks again and I’m glad to be here. Appreciate you and ChiBlood both very much!

    Doc’

  106. Gee, Michelle, you’re welcome. You asked (do you remember?) “what do we know about Rahm Emanuel.” He’s been a major player in policy for two decades, so much so that he’s already had one character based on him in a hit television program that had a successful run and has already gone off the air.

If you think a brief recital of the facts about Emanuel sounds like “enamored,” maybe you should check him out. Maybe there’s substance to the argument that there is deep leadership among Democrats.

  107. Ed,
I meant what do we REALLY know about him, since the media is not going to be of any help AT ALL if there is anything negative….I guess having a hit TV show says it all, though. Yes, your Liberal roots are showing again….

  108. Got Google? The Chicago Tribune profile had plenty of negative stuff.

But with an honorable ex-GI, religious, good family man and patriot like Emanuel, there may not be the sort of negative stuff you want. There are more honest women and men in Washington than dishonest; most of the dishonest ones are Shakespearian cases, with many more fine qualities than bad ones.
